Great Barrier Island Wedding Photographer, Mount Saint Paul Estate
It was the first time I had ever been to Great Barrier Island, so to photograph Briar & Scott's wedding there was the icing on the cake. It was a tiny 12 seater plane ride over the beautiful Waiheke Island, along Coromandel, passed Little Barrier, and then arriving to a beautiful sunny day on the natural and raw beauty that is Great Barrier Island. One of the first things we did was go and do a photography location scout of the area, and found the awesome Oruawharo Bay near Medlands Beach, with some giant Pohutukawa trees. The next day was wedding day and we saw a bit of rain in the evening
But even with the rain, these guys had the time of their lives and partied hard through the night. We still got some cool shots near the Pohutukawas and a nearby farm. The wedding was held at Mt St Paul Estate, which has amazing panoramic views out to the ocean and Pitokuku Island. There were times when we had no cell phone reception, there were no laptops, pristine beaches with nobody around, local homemade burgers, crayfish and good cake! It made you appreciate just how awesome and relaxing island life can be. Ocean views, salty air and dancing under the trees, all made for a very special wedding
