A Beautifully Story-Filled Wedding from Papamoa Beach to Pongakawa
From the early morning preparations at Papamoa Beach to the vibrant dance moves in Pongakawa, this wedding was packed with laughs, love, and great vibes. It’s always extra special when couples include their kids in their big day, and little Ez absolutely stole the show with this one.
This wedding wasn’t just about the big moments—it was also about the heartfelt, quiet ones that tell a deeper story. The day began and ended with the bride balancing motherhood and celebration, from early morning feeds to a touching moment where she shared a toast before returning to her duties.
Little Ez’s journey throughout the day showed the true meaning of family. He was lovingly passed from cousin to grandfather, to parents, and back again, embodying the “it takes a village” sentiment. Capturing these intimate and joyful moments took 25 frames—a detailed approach that allows the full story to unfold in images.
This series was so meaningful to me that I submitted it to the 2023 Sony/NZIPP National Photography Awards, where it received a Silver Award. It’s a testament to how powerful storytelling through photography can be.
