Grace + Steve // Black Barn Tuahiwi Wedding Photos // Lake Tarawera, Rotorua Wedding Photographers
Every now and then I venture into grass fields for wedding photos. I know this is a bad idea, because I know that my number one hayfever trigger is pollen and grasses, yet strangely - I still do it (the things we do to get the photos we want). So in true kiwi fashion I thought to myself “she’ll be right”, swallowed an antihistamine tablet, and stayed optimistic. But, 30 mins later, I got the craziest hayfever attack, my eyes went red and the itchi scratchiness took over my body in full force. I was a mess. I was in the bathroom washing out my eyes and blowing my nose, pretty much used an entire roll of toilet paper. One thing I discovered during this intense eye and nose watering time, is that Grace and Steve have some really amazing, thoughtful and caring friends. There wasn’t a single soul who walked by without asking if I was ok. One cuzzie even hugged me (thanks bro). I mean seriously, it looked like I was weeping after watching Jack descend during that iconic ‘promise’ scene in Titanic lol. Luckily, a few eye washes and some awesome vietnamese food truck treats later, and I was better.
Grace + Steve quit their jobs in Australia, and decided to come back home to NZ and get married in December of 2019. They have taken a year off work, campervanning around this amazing country of ours. Their wedding day was nothing short of awesome. With their dog ‘Blue’ by their side, and their beautiful friends and family, they tied the knot overlooking the lovely Lake Tarawera.
There was so much love at this wedding, many tears, tight hugs, and through some recent loss and adversity, they found strength and love through their friends and family - and now they’re cruising around New Zealand in their campervan, no doubt soaking up the splendid summer sun, just the three of them…
What an amazing day to be part of!
