Great Barrier Island Wedding Photographer, Mount Saint Paul Estate

It was the first time I had ever been to Great Barrier Island, so to photograph Briar & Scott's wedding there was the icing on the cake. It was a tiny 12 seater plane ride over the beautiful Waiheke Island, along Coromandel, passed Little Barrier, and then arriving to a beautiful sunny day on the natural and raw beauty that is Great Barrier Island. One of the first things we did was go and do a photography location scout of the area, and found the awesome Oruawharo Bay near Medlands Beach, with some giant Pohutukawa trees. The next day was wedding day and we saw a bit of rain in the evening

Paula & PJ's wedding was definitely one I will never forget. Such crazy belly laughs with the groomsmen giving a lot to laugh at. From thinking rescue drops were meant to be put in the eyes to stop tears (hilarious), to splitting his pants during the portrait & bridal party session, there were times I had to rest my cheeks from laughing so much! The jokes were pulled out, the banter was strong, and these American lads sure know how to have a good time. But amongst that all, there was a lot of love floating around on the day

Paula rocked out one awesome dress, they had a very unconventional wedding, which was sweet! No first dances and they wanted to have a first look so we headed over to Big Omaha Wharf in Whangateau, it was a super special moment followed by some champagne and photos with the bridal party. Being a surfer from California, PJ's love for the beach is strong so they chose to have a barefoot ceremony on the south side of Omaha Beach. The reception was at a holiday home and the whole vibe on the day was chilled and intimate, right up my alley. Always good to be able to get out for some sunset shots too

Oakura Bay Villa in Waiheke Island really is a beautiful place for a wedding. Nadia & Sam's day started with pouring rain, that turned into slight drizzle. Nadia made the call to have the ceremony outside, rain or shine - which I was stoked about as the location for it was really awesome. Positive thoughts worked and the rain disappeared, and I was even more stoked to be fed cherries and coffee all morning

Right from the start their day was filled with crazy belly laughs and fun banter. In fact, if there was ever a wedding where I laughed so hard that my face and cheeks hurt, this was it. Good times after good times, with a really fun bridal party session. Tonnes of emotion from family and friends, with overdoses of rescue drops along the way. Nadia & Sam are hands down one of the most chilled and funniest couples I have met
